Hey. I am an ADULT.

I thought we went over this last time! Do you have the memory of a Goldeen or do you just want to pick a fight?!

Name a time and place and whatever it is I have to do it to you! I'll make you AND your friend bow before my strength and beg for forgiveness!

[Yes, brilliant argument there, that'll teach him, kid.

(He got him fair and square from the police. He was released into his custody. How.)]

Size really doesn't matter in a Pokemon battle. I'm getting at least one of my team mates back soon. It could sap his energy and make him harmless if he misbehaves, don't worry.

You know who I mean, your artist friend with the girl name to match yours.

[At least Haruka could conceivably be a guy's name, maybe, if it's supposed to be "distant," but Rin? It sounds like "bell," man. He knows a Bell, she was held back four years or so, more clueless than girls his age, and shrieks and squeals over muscular guys and Pokemon, that's not exactly the manliest association.]

<ghostprince> [audio; I'm sorry he's so full of himself and blind to how bad the situation is ^^;;;]

Don't shout. [This is hissed, sounding quite on-edge, but the rest is much calmer.]

It's true, I anticipated I'd have my partner back a... little earlier than this, but.

He's already in my custody and it shouldn't be long now, so, I don't see what the point is in getting angry about it.

For now, I'm keeping him in my sight at all times. He won't harm me and I won't let him harm any innocents.

— but, you are wrong about the size of the opponent in confrontation with a Pokemon. I'm not going to be using physical attacks. In fact, I'm not planning on using any attacks at all.

That's not what I need my partner for, but something more equalizing than that. It's something no opponent can resist. Rest assured, we'll all be perfectly safe.

Actually, that's— not a bad idea.

We could, but I was thinking draining spiritual energy until he's dead on his feet— figuratively speaking too— until he behaves and then relinquishing it. His spirit, I mean.

He'd have to know what I'm doing. It isn't an attack, like I said... it's subtle, he'd have to notice the fire slowly growing to realize his energy is being drained out of him.

The rate can be controlled, if it's done slowly, he won't notice until he's exhausted, but if it's done quickly, it'll feel like crushing. Like your life force is being rapidly drained out of you, mostly because, well, that's exactly what's happening.

[personal profile] shootaro 2017-03-01 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
... I've never used it on living humans, if that's what you're scared of.

But it has to be frequent, this is how it feeds. [It's not the only one who feeds this way either, two of his partners feed on spiritual power.] But this one preyed on me when we first met, so a compromise was made— the dead work just as well, we've found.

I know what it feels like. So don't worry.

[None of this is really making it any better, is it? That child's voicd is so call and matter-of-fact.]

[There's a long pause before he answers and first, it's only a small huff that's almost like a wry laugh, then another, briefer pause before actual words follow:]

It's funny. No one's ever cared that much about me before this place.

You know? Mitsuhide expresses that same concern a lot. That's a funny thing you two have in common.

Yeah. Did you think the name was just for show?

I trained two Ghost Types. They're born in the spirit world; it's a very cruel place, all the evil and violent spirits are locked up there.

So, even when they move over to our world, they don't have the same way of thinking, morals, or even feeding habits.

—so, yes, like us. I think if you took in others from my world, particularly those afraid of Ghost Types, they'd take this situation harder than I have.

My, you get worked up easily. [Can a voice be described as smug? Because his absolutely was.] It wasn't a negative association, not at all.

—they're my favourite type.

They have very unique abilities, casting illusions, drawing out an opponent's fears and paralyzing them with it... cursing and sealing attacks... the ability to render an opponent completely helpless— I like it.

I think they're more honest, too. I like that they don't deny their natures. They don't have to pretend to be good and aren't interested in it. The world is cruel sometimes and so are they— and it isn't wrong, just the way they naturally are.

[Sorry for the pretentious preteen, Rin, but you had to ask.]

... that's strange, how do you know there are so many? [... he didn't mention that, did he? Must have been one of the other trainers.]
